How To Order More Free COVID-19 Tests From the Government

After halting the order free COVID-19 tests campaign earlier this year, the Biden administration is resuming it, "to keep ahead of a spike of COVID-19 cases this winter," according to a White House release on Thursday. Each family will be able to purchase four free tests, which will be distributed by the United States Postal Service beginning later this month.

From January through September, consumers may use the COVID.gov website to request speedy at-home COVID-19 testing. Through the government scheme, more than 600 million free tests were mailed out.

According to the White House, distribution was eventually halted because Congress did not authorize money to refill the stockpile of tests. However, the Biden administration said on Thursday that it will reopen the program for a "limited round" of ordering.

All you have to do to order the antigen testing is go to the government website and input your name and address. You may also give your email address if you want to receive delivery updates.

This is the fourth round of free COVID-19 test kits. Four tests were included in the first two rounds, with eight more tests being available for ordering in the third round, which began in May. The White House stated in a statement that "COVID-19 is not the disruptive force it once was," but that testing is still necessary, especially as families prepare to meet for the holidays.

The federal program isn't the sole option for obtaining free COVID-19 testing. Private health insurance companies must cover up to eight over-the-counter quick tests each month, and there are over 15,000 places in the United States where you may receive an in-person COVID-19 test for free or inexpensive.
